The question I've been asking myself these days: Will I get discriminated from the society if I don't reactivate my Facebook account?

The account got deactivated just one week before I left Kuching, reason was I was annoyed at some of the things I saw inside. Well after all, every Fb users has their right to post anything. So I chose to leave. At the start, it was difficult, I only deactivated for less than two minutes, and it felt awkward to not be able to view news feed and to know what was going around with the people I know. The only way I distract my mind from Fb was to get busy with other things, I started playing computer games :P But I only do that at the start.

So I thought I won't be able to last long, I thought I'll be back in 2 or 3 days, I thought the maximum period would be when I got settled down in uni and my Fb account will be back. I was wrong, from 31st August till last night, I've not visited Fb for two weeks; and it had became a habit not think about Fb anymore. It actually feels GOOD to be away from everything and every gossip. I do not have to play games anymore to get my mind off Fb. I think I've just lose total dependency on Fb. I congratulated myself, but at the same time, I doubted if I'll get discriminated from the world without owning an Fb account.

Besides getting updates from friends, gossips about things and people, news about everybody else whom I was connected to, Fb served as an important site where I get useful knowledge about uni updates and information. And so, last night I activated my account, I visited a few close friends' page and read their activities as well as wall posts. Then went to the uni info sharing group and started browsing for about 20minutes.

I went back to the Fb home page and stared at the screen, it felt totally like I was a stranger back to an old place where I've left for years. Or rather it felt like Si Tenggang just got back to his hometown. Feeling strange, I deactivated again.

I want to be away from Facebook forever, because either it has become a habit, or I just feel too good for not owning Fb. But I'm afraid of getting discriminated from the world. Is fb really that essential? I guess time will tell.

Tomorrow is public holiday!!! And then WEEKENDS! :DD I'll update in the next post about the life here. Without realizing, I'd been here for two weeks already, going through tons of stuff I'd never imagined.
